The play
Have you heard your parents or grandparents talk about ‘in my day...’ and you’ve thought how wonderful it must have been to live in that era? Home, I’m Darling is a play about taking the opportunity to step aside from the millennium life and swap it for a 1950s life before McDonald’s, pizza deliveries and supermarkets.
What could possibly go wrong?
Stay-at-home ‘housewife’ Judy kisses husband Johnny goodbye and sends him off to work each morning with a packed lunch while she takes care of all the household tasks. Best friend Fran pops in for a visit and a cuppa and in the evenings Fran and husband Marcus visit and the record player blasts the latest ’50s rock and roll music.
However, visits from Judy’s mum Sylvia and Johnny’s boss Alex bring a touch of reality to their domestic bliss.
Home, I’m Darling is funny, thoughtful, and includes a good dose of rock and roll.
